About our brand: Smart Jewellery Deals

Smart Jewellery Deals or SJD does not refer to digital watches, rings, tags, bracelets and pendants.

We cater for smart consumers and our market segment serves smart consumerism.

We believe that there is a market for jewellery without excessive inflated price tags. We have researched alternatives to big ticket jewellery offerings and narrowed down best value items.

We are able to bring beautiful crafted jewellery to our smart customers at affordable prices, because we are informed. We make it our business to evaluate every aspect in the lifecycle of our products that determines the actual cost. By applying our unique matrix- best value at every level of the supply chain is chosen for catalogued items.

Value lies in the longevity, design, gemstones, metals, correct applications and technical excellence in manufacturing standards.

In most cases jewellery retailers import a cast of a specific setting in the metals of their choice, often pre set with diamonds, moissanites or cubic zirconia . International manufacturers often offer these ‘carcasses ’ at stupendous prices. It is often far more economical to import these ready made options and tweaking it to specification locally.

Jewellery manufacturing: Behind the scenes

Nowadays there are certain standard procedures required from design to manufacturing. It starts with a CAD rendering of the item, which is a very technical mapping of the end product ( a blue print).

Following the CAD rendering is printing of a 3D mold/-s that can be used only for a limited number of castings before it needs replacement.

Any suitable metal can be used to cast the setting as long as it is suitable to the hardness of the gemstones intended for such a setting.

Often these processes are conducted in countries with mass skilled labourers working in dedicated factories. When one anticipates sales in numbers, this is the best and most cost effective route to follow, Import and shipping cost is added to all the preceding costs from CAD rendering till the final product arrives at the market place or point of sale.

Every jewellery chain store ( this does not apply to exclusive jewellers in the luxury market ) use this method and employs perhaps one or two goldsmiths to do minor repairs and alterations in-house.

Shipping is a major cost factor and therefore does not make it worthwhile for the individual to bring in jewellery this way.
